Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon

Ho Chi Minh City! My first impressions? High temperatures in combination with an endless stream of traffic.

The city hosts 10 million people and they sure show that they are out there. If you get more into the back streets, it can be quite nice.

Our visit started with a Riksha tour through the city. And yes, you get to experience first hand ln how traffic moves. There's some nice places to see such as the independance palace, reunification palace, the cathedral and the post office. But we also got a taste for our visit the next day to the Cu Chi Tunnels, a complex network of tunnels that the Viet Cong lived in during the Vietnam war. Our guide showed us a house that was used to store weapons and hide people during the Vietnam war.

At the Cu Chi Tunnels we got an idea on how the Viet Cong managed to hide from bombs during the war. We even crawled through one of the tunnels.

On our last day we did another boat trip on the Mekong. In Vietnam, the river is much wider than what we got to experience in Laos. Apparently it goes up to a width of 3 km.

Tomorrow we have long trip towards Cambodia. Saying goodbye Belgian style 😅
