Welcome to Hanoi

We have arrived in Vietnam and are spending 2 nights in Hanoi. It is quite a shock if you try to cross the street as a pedestrian for the first time. Basically the trick is to slowly move and don't stop or go backwards ... the many motorcycles and cars will go around you.

One of the highlights was our visit to the mausoleum of Ho Chi Mihn. Yes, I saw dead people. It's actually quite impressive and you also get to see the Presidential Palace. Most of the buildings here were made by the French and the city buildings do have a lot of the French architecture style.

The most exciting thing was the train track that runs right through the middle of the city. And, although very touristy, you can sip on a drink at a bar right next to the track while the train passes by ... and not going slow!

In the evening we went to see a traditional Vietnamese water puppet theatre show.
